Supporting academic success
At the Y, we know that the first signs that mark a decline in students’ academic performance and motivation often go unnoticed. And yet, young people just want to be noticed and heard.
Countering school dropout starts with prevention. That is why we offer a range of school success programs because we believe kids and teens can benefit from support before they start to struggle. They key to success starts with the right tools and support in life. Consult the list of programs below.
What does “school success” mean at the Y?
Succeeding in school does not only happen in the classroom. A ton of other factors can influence academic success—the ability to complete one’s homework, a sense of direction in life, participation in after-school activities, personal goals, the family’s financial situation, the number of adults present in a young person’s life other than their parents, changing bodies, and external influences can all play a decisive role. That is a lot for one person to deal with.
Whether to ask for help with their homework, chat about interests, learn to manage money better, or understand the dangers associated with drinking and drug use, kids and teens can find their place in our programs, which are offered in school or on a Y site.
