Our Training and Skills Development Programs

Igniting people's potential is in the YMCA's DNA. And that can take many forms, such as honing your professional skills, or completing a certification for fun or to broaden your employment prospects. Among others, we offer a wide range of aquatic, first-aid, fitness accredited certifications and diplomas. All of this training is offered in our caring and safe environment. Moreover, the schedule can be easily adapted to fit with your active lifestyle.

Fitness Certifications

Are you interested in becoming a fitness course instructor, private trainer, or aquatic fitness instructor? The YMCA was the first Canadian organization to offer fitness instructor certifications. Today, it still offers most comprehensive training on the market, which is recognized throughout Canada and includes a choice of specializations based on your interests.

First Aid and CPR

Would you like to be able to respond effectively in an emergency and help someone in danger? Our first-aid and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) courses will not only teach you how to save lives but also open doors to new career opportunities that require first-aid basics.

Lifeguard

Are you 15 years of age or older and would like to work as a lifeguard or assistant lifeguard in a pool or other aquatic facility? The YMCA's Lifeguard Certification is a practical and accredited training offering the perfect opportunity to have a positive impact in your community while doing valuable work.
