School Community Program: Supporting Educational Success in Saint-Léonard and Anjou

Since 2018, the School Community program has been actively supporting families in Saint-Léonard and Anjou through an outreach service offered by the Y.

The goal: to reinforce the ties between schools, families, and the community to foster children’s educational success, improve families’ knowledge and use of local resources, and support parents in their role.

A Project at the Heart of the Community

The School Community program was initiated by the Saint-Léonard neighbourhood action plan as part of the Collective Impact Project (PIC). The program is carried out in collaboration with Montréal Hooked on School, the Centre de services scolaire de la Pointe-de-l’Île (CSSPI), and several other partner organizations.

Today, 39 schools on the CSSPI’s territory benefit from the services offered by the program’s agents who are supported by 6 community organizations: the YMCAs of Québec, Aide aux immigrants de l’Est de Montréal (AIEM), Horizon carrière, Équipe RDP, Coup de pouce jeunesse Montréal-Nord, and the Centre de pédiatrie sociale de Montréal-Nord.

The YMCA supports 11 schools (6 in Saint-Léonard and 5 in Anjou).
To date, the YMCA has helped 2,105 families
