The YMCA's Youth Initiatives

At the YMCA, we believe there is potential inside all of us. Through various programs, such as group activities, mentoring, physical activities and many others, youth build the skills they need to succeed in school, work, and life. They also find a sense of community and belonging as they meet  new friends and adult allies.

TeenZones: Stimulating Spaces Exclusively for Youth

We offer teens aged 12 to 17 safe and welcoming spaces to relax, rest, and hang out with their friends after school, without commitment or pressure. Here, youth can participate in a ton of activities and play pool, soccer, or video games as well as find resources or ask for help from a caring adult.

School Perseverance: Supporting Success

At the Y, we believe the fight against dropping out of school starts with prevention. We do not wait for youth to experience difficulties to help them. Instead, we offer them ongoing support through our various programs.

Engagement and Leadership

We offer several activities and programs to awaken youth's entrepreneurial spirit and environmental awareness, foster their social development, encourage them to take initiative, and develop their financial knowledge.

Intervention and Prevention

Maintaining relationships between a child and both parents in a safe and healthy environment, building a healthy relationship between a young person and their community, providing access to community programs, and preventing substance abuse are just some of the ways we are committed to the well-being of young people.

Services to Support Young Newcomers

At the YMCA, we believe the best way to help young newcomers to the country is to offer them the opportunity to participate in activities, discover new things, and go on outings, all in French, so that they can integrate and feel at home in their new city, neighbourhood, and Québec culture.
