The YMCA has been chosen to manage the new Saint-Roch sports and community centre in Québec City

News June 9, 2017

We are happy to inform you that the City of Québec has just announced in a press conference that it is asking the YMCAs of Québec to manage a new Saint-Roch community and sports centre, which will be under construction soon. The centre will be built in the Saint-Roch neighbourhood in Québec City’s Lower Town on the site of the former Charest Cinema.

This represents the return of complete YMCA programming more than 15 years after the closure of the Québec City YMCA.

It will have the equipment and facilities typically found in the YMCAs of Quebec centres: a 25m pool, a double gym, a conditioning room, locker rooms, studios for group classes, community rooms and a large hall for gatherings. But it will also have a community kitchen, an accessible rooftop, and several classrooms for language classes.

We are very pleased that the City of Québec has such confidence in our experience in developing and managing community and sports centre in partnership with municipalities.

We have served the Québec City community for a long time and we are convinced that the new centre will have positive impact on the community, particularly for the neighbourhood’s kids, young people and families.
