New Membership Model
The YMCAs of Québec Launches New Membership Model Better Suited to People’s Needs and Means As people’s lifestyle and workout habits have changed, the YMCAs of Québec is launching a new membership model as part of its transformation.
An active community means a healthy community
The Y strives to promote the adoption of healthy lifestyle habits, specifically through physical activity, and especially as the levels of physical activity have dropped because of the pandemic.
“This new membership model offers greater flexibility to our members and better suits their goals and preferred activities—whether they like group courses, the conditioning room, or aquatic activities—all in a welcoming and inclusive environment,” explains Catherine Blanchette, Executive Director of the Health, Fitness, and Aquatics sector at the YMCAs of Québec
In fact, a recent study by the INSPQ showed that in 2022 only 27% of Quebeckers between the ages of 25 and 44 were active. And that percentage dropped for 45-to-59-year-olds with only 22% saying they engaged in recreational activities, while 55% said they led entirely sedentary lifestyles.
And yet, it has been proven that physical activity has a positive impact on mental health, particularly as it helps us cope with anxiety better, regulates our sleep, and improves our concentration.
The new memberships available
Here is a glimpse at the Y’s new membership plans:
Additionally, the Y offers reduced rates for certain age groups (teenagers and seniors), and children between 0 and 11 years of age can access the centres for free when they are accompanied by an adult member. Furthermore, our financial assistance program can cover up to 50% of membership costs for eligible participants, based on their financial situation.
The three new membership plans are already being offered and members can sign up today. All the information and rates are available at our centres or online.
