Following the great interest for running classes last spring and summer, the Downtown YMCA team is taking its members’ running experience one step further. So, we’re launching a brand new running program, which will include a Running Club, a Facebook running group as well as running clinics and workshops on different topics.
The goal of the running club is to offer different times for runners to get together and run in a cooperative, fun and friendly environment!
- Monday: 5:45 pm to 6:45 pm
- Wednesday: 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm
- Free and open to members only.
- Registration at front desk required.
- Prerequisite: you must be able to run 5 km or have participated in one of our running clinics (or equivalent).
- The Facebook group is for runners only.
Although running may seem easy, it can also cause injuries. So, runners should have basic knowledge of fundamental running techniques.
This is why we ask new runners to be able to run at least 5 km or participate in one of our running clinics. These clinics will take place several times a year to allow new Running Club members to acquire the knowledge and tools they need for a safe and enjoyable running practice.
Running Basics ($) – Tuesdays from 5:45 pm to 6:45 pm, from September 24 to December 10
Goals for a 10K Run ($) – Coming in Winter 2020
Throughout the year, we will offer free workshops on different running topics (what to wear, what to eat, how to stay hydrated, etc.) that will be open to everyone. These workshops will complement your running.
The first workshop on how to prevent injuries will be held on Wednesday, September 18 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
