Join the COP21 Collective

The YMCAs of Québec - June 05 2015

The 21st Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC – COP21) will take place in Paris from November 30 to December 11, 2015.

The Conference of the Parties meets every year to discuss and set clear goals for the fight against climate change. These meetings acknowledge the existence of human-induced climate change and give industrialized countries the responsibility for combating it. In this spirit, the COP21 should be a decisive step toward achieving an international agreement on the climate that will come into effect in 2020, aiming to be the first universal climate agreement signed by all countries, from the least developed to the most industrialized.

Civil society organizations from around the world will be present at COP 21 to build the pressure needed for ambitious and just climate action, and transformational and sustainable public policies.

For many years now, student groups and members of civil society have organized delegations to participate in different international meetings. Since 2008, UNI-Alter and the YMCA have organized seven Collectifs de la société civile québécoise to take part in large-scale international events. For this project, they are counting on the collaboration of the FTQ and the AQOCI.

If you would like to join the movement, now’s the time!
