The aging of our population is now a major social issue. Despite wanting to be active, a growing number of people are left on their own and becoming more socially isolated.
To encourage seniors to keep active, maintain social contact and make their daily lives more pleasurable, we provide places where they can meet, talk and enjoy a variety of physical, social and recreational activities at their own leisure.
Advantages
- our diverse programming is adapted to the needs and interests of seniors (table tennis, billiards, foosball, discussion groups, board games, special events, arts and crafts, computer classes and much more);
- seniors may access activities for free or at a minimal cost;
- seniors have a gathering place dedicated to supporting each other, socializing and promoting their well-being;
- seniors have opportunities to volunteer and to take part in intergenerational activities.
Hundreds of seniors participate in our programs to find a balance in their lives. By offering seniors a safe environment where they can meet and talk, we are helping them break their social isolation, prevent depression, ward off physical and mental deterioration as well as providing them with a sense of purpose and the feeling that they are contributing to society.

This program is offered at the Downtown YMCA, Du Parc YMCA, Notre-Dame-de-Grâce YMCA, Pointe-Saint-Charles YMCA and West Island YMCA.*
