REFUND POLICY FOR DAY COURSE SESSION- AND EVENING COURSE SESSION
3 TYPES OF CANCELLATION
Before the session start date *:
- No penalty shall be applied.
- The entire fee will be refunded if the student cancels the registration or if the course is cancelled by the school.
After the session start date*:
- The price of the courses rendered, computed on the basis of the rate stipulated, will not be deducted or reimbursed.
- The less of the following two sums: $50, or a sum representing not more than 10% of the price of the courses that were not rendered. This penalty will not apply if the student decides to keep the balance in his YMCA account.
Postponing until a later session
- If the course is postponed before the beginning of the session (excluding the first day), there is no penalty.
- If the course is postponed after the beginning of the session (including the first day), the classes already rendered must be paid for; the amount remaining will be saved in the student’s YMCA account for one year, from the day of the postponement.
- The student must register for the entire new session, paying the difference between the amount remaining from the old course and the total cost of the new course.
International Students
REFUND POLICY FOR DAY COURSE SESSION
Refusal by Immigration Canada
Students who are unable to obtain the appropriate documents to enter Canada are entitled to a refund of all pre-paid fees, less an administration fee of $180 for in person courses or $50 for virtual courses. Students must request the refund in writing and send a copy of the letter of refusal from Immigration Canada to the YMCA International Language School.
Cancellation of a Day Course Session before arrival in Canada
Students who wish to cancel their course(s) must return the original Letter of Acceptance and must provide written notification to the International Language School of The YMCAs of Québec. Students will receive a complete refund of all pre-paid fees, minus the administration fee and cancellation fee.
Cancellation of a Day Course Session course after arrival in Canada and before the beginning of classes (first day included)
If you cancel before the beginning of a Day Course Session (first day included), all the pre-paid fees will be refunded, less a 40% fee on the total amount, and less the administration fee.
Cancellation after the beginning of classes (first day included) of a Day Course Session.
There is no refund for any portion of services within a four-week course after it starts (first day included). All the other pre-paid courses will be refunded, less a 40% fee on the total amount and less the administration fee.
Postponement
Students who wish to delay the start of a course must ensure that written notification reaches the International Language School of The YMCAs of Québec at least 21 days before the start of the course. Students who fail to provide sufficient notice will be charged a postponement fee of $75. If the postponement is due to a visa delay, the $75 fee will not be charged but we will require proof of the delay.
TYPES OF CANCELLATION & PENALTIES
- Refusal by Immigration Canada: Admission fees
- Cancellation before arrival in Canada: $125 CA + $100 CAD.
- Cancellation of a Day Course Sessione, after arrival in Canada and before beginning of classes (first day included): $125 CAD + 40% of total amount of all pre-paid course(s).
- Cancellation of a Day Course Session, after the beginning of classes (first day included): $125 CAD + 100% of the first class fee + 40% of total amount of all other pre-paid courses.
- Failure to notify the school, in writing, regarding postponement at least 21 days before the beginning of the course: $75 CAD.
Students with PVT (permis vacances-travail)
REFUND POLICY FOR EVENING COURSE SESSION
1. Cancellation of an Evening Course Session before the beginning of classes (first day included)
If you cancel before the beginning of an Evening Course Session (first day included), all the pre-paid fees will be refunded, less a 40% fee on the total amount and the administration fee of $50 for virtual courses and $180 for in person courses.
2. Cancellation after the beginning of classes (first day included) of an Evening Course Session.
There is no refund for any portion of services within an Evening Course Session after it starts (first day included). All the other pre-paid courses will be refunded less a 40% fee on the total amount, and the administration fee of $50 for virtual courses and $180 for in person courses.

Students with work permit/Temporary resident/visitors

*Refund is made to the payer only and by the same method of payment initially used, except for payments made by cash or by debit card, which will be refunded by cheque.
