Learn to Swim – Swimmer
The Learn to Swim program, divided into four levels, teaches basic swimming and aquatic safety skills. Swimmers work on building an excellent foundation, working on the progressions for each stroke. Swimmers also increase their swimming distance with each level as they learn to make the right decisions when in or near the water.
It is the intent of the Swimmer level to continue with stroke development with coordinated arm, leg and breathing action as the front crawl as well as to introduce the back crawl, and basic swim skills.
Children from 6 to 15 years-old will learn an initial standard level of front and back crawl. They will ba able to swim underwater for 2.5m, to jump into deep water, to tread water for 40 seconds, and swim back to wall, to surface dive feet-first to 1.5m deep and recover an object, to execute head-first sculling for 5m, and stationary sculling on back for 1m. They will practice their endurance with 25m front swim, 25m back swim, and 25m side glide kicking.
