Day Camps

For the holiday season, give the gift of camp to a child in need

Camp YMCA Kanawana - November 26 2018

> On this season of giving, give a child in need the best gift of all: the magic of camp.

"My experiences at camp have shaped parts of who I am and how I live my life. I am grateful for all that Kanawana has brought to me. Through being at camp, I’ve developed my self-confidence, realized how important human connection is and seen my appreciation for nature flourish.

We believe deeply in the value of the traditional camp experience. We believe in being here for everyone. But we need your help to continue being open and accessible to kids from all backgrounds through your financial aid.

With study after study highlighting the impact of “nature deficit disorder”, our core programing — connecting kids to both each other and to nature — is more relevant than ever.

In an increasingly connected world, Kanawana is one of the very few places where children and teens aren’t permitted to use electronic devices like cellphones, tablets and games.

Kanawana is a safe place

  • where campers canoe and swim in Lake Kanawana, walk barefoot in the forest and sing songs around the camp fire;
  • to discover nature, make friends, learn cheers and gain confidence
  • where kids rise and rest with the sun, write and act in their own plays and have time to sit quietly, listening to the chirp of birds instead of social media alerts.

With your compassionate support, they learn how to connect to themselves, to each other and to the natural world.

Imagine more children who, for the most part, have never left the Island of Montreal singing Hail, Hail the Gang’s All Here – just as you or your kids did.

Help other kids make Kanawana their home away from home next summer. A place to make new friends, best friends and forever friends and feel a sense of belonging.
