Thanks to you, fewer children are left on their own

Cartierville YMCA - July 21 2017

Due to the increased cost of before & after school programs, as well as cuts to extracurricular activities, the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough has seen an increase in the presence of "latchkey kids" – children who are left on their own after school, before their parents get home.

Your donations have allowed us to set up an after school program in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville neighborhood.

This service meets the new needs of families in the neighborhood where many children could potentially remain alone after school without supervision.

Every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 pm to 5 pm, approximately 20 children are welcomed by a YMCA youth worker, assisted by 2 volunteers, in a multi-purpose room where they can have fun, do their homework and socialize in a safe and supervised environment.

This program was launched in collaboration with the borough, the "Table de concertation jeunesse Bordeaux-Cartierville" and the "Intervenant communautaire scolaire (ICS)".
