YMCAs of Québec - July 20 2018

History has been made at YMCA World Council 2018! The YMCA World Alliance election results are in! We are thrilled to tell you that Patricia Pelton has been elected President for the 2018-2022 term!

This is the first time in the history of the World Alliance of YMCAs that a woman has been elected to the role of President. It is also the first time a Canadian has been elected President.

Patricia ran on a platform of youth empowerment, strong YMCAs, good governance and robust financial oversight. She is a respected global leader whose extensive experience will serve her well in the position. An accomplished executive in the health care sector, Patricia is a committed YMCA volunteer and has been throughout her life. She has served locally in Edmonton and Calgary; nationally including as Chair, YMCA Canada Board of Directors; and has participated in several committees of the World YMCA.

Patricia received global support in her election bid and greatly appreciates all of the good wishes and support she received. She thanks the leaders who came before her, serving at the world level on behalf of the Canadian YMCA.

Patricia has worked tirelessly in pursuit of this goal and we know she will have tremendous impact during her term. Congratulations Patricia!
