The YMCAs of Québec are concerned about the over-consumption of sugary drinks

The YMCAs of Québec - November 12 2015

One in four Québec children are overweight. As for adults, this number climbs to nearly 60%. The regular consumption of sugary drinks is the only dietary practice that is consistently linked to childhood obesity. In fact, it increases the risk of obesity in children by 60%.

The YMCAs of Québec has joined 15 other organizations to voice its concern in a press release issued by the Coalition Poids in which we demand that the Government’s policy on prevention include actions to reduce the over-consumption of liquid sweets in order to prevent weight-related issues and chronic diseases.
