Camp YMCA Kanawana's 120th anniversary reunion!

Montréal, August 11, 2014 - On September 5, Camp YMCA Kanawana alumni (former campers and staff members) will assemble at Victoria Hall to celebrate the camp’s 120th anniversary. The festivities will continue on September 6 and 7 with the annual Friends and Family Weekend, where the camp’s alumni will be able to relive some of the magical summers from their youth in Saint-Sauveur!

The reunion committee has already confirmed the presence of former directors Gary White and Derek Walsh, as well as current director Sean Day, who says that “wherever they go, whatever they do, the camp’s alumni will always be Kanawanians.” Such is the case for “Smillie” Bucklands, the oldest alumnus, who still goes by the nickname that was given to him during his time at camp in the 1940s!

During this event, young and old alike will be able to sing Kanawana songs in harmony and help keep this camp tradition alive. It’s a tradition that has actively contributed to the success and development of countless young people through the years.
