Projet École-Famille-Communauté (School-Family-Community Project)

YMCAs of Québec - March 02 2021

The project, launched as a pilot project in Saint-Leonard in 2018 by Centraide’s Collective Impact Project in collaboration with Montreal Hooked on School and the CSSPI, provides personalized support to parents.

Agents work in the field to help parents better navigate the Québec educational system and its culture, so that they can fully participate in their children’s academic success. They also help parents integrate into their communities by steering them toward neighbourhood resources. Last, they work to raise awareness within the schools of the needs of these families to foster mutual understanding and promote fruitful exchanges.

Five youth workers from the YMCAs of Québec’s School Success department are also present in the Saint-Léonard and Anjou neighbourhoods to support the families. Our team takes care of the overall coordination of the project’s best practices in the east of Montréal.

Since it first started, the project has helped over 500 families in 30 schools.
