Y daycares offer children an enriching experience that contributes to their overall well-being.

Children’s first learning experiences play a crucial role in their future development. These experiences become the foundation for the acquisition of skills that they will need to have a positive experience when starting kindergarten.

The YMCAs of Québec’s daycares offer programs for young children based on our Educational Approach, and the Accueillir la petite enfance early childhood education program of the Ministère de la Famille et des Aînés du Québec. Children who attend our daycares have the opportunity to undergo their first learning experiences in a stimulating environment. All aspects of their development are taken into consideration through free play, structured games, storytelling, singing, field trips, physical activities, theatre, arts and much more!

Daily activities are adapted to each age group. They are designed to stimulate the imagination and creativity of children as well as develop their curiosity, sense of observation and concentration. Some activities that promote group interaction teach children to share, to take responsibility for their actions, to wait their turn, to become more autonomous and to express their feelings in an appropriate manner.

As they progress from one age group to the next and improve their social skills, the children who take part in our daycare programs are preparing themselves to grow into a more structured learning environment such as kindergarten. When they start school, they continue to evolve, benefiting from the solid foundation that they have acquired at the Y daycare program.
