Montréal, February 25, 2015 – The Westmount YMCA is launching its annual fundraising campaign, the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, to ensure a better future for the children and youth in the neighbourhood.
“Many employees, volunteers and donors will be doing their part to raise $45,000 to ensure a better future for the children, youth, families and seniors in the neighbourhood,” said Cristina Romero, Director of the Westmount YMCA. “We want to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and reach their full potential. The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign allows us to promote healthy lifestyle habits, nurture the development of young people and foster their sense of belonging and engagement within their communities.”
The Howick family story exemplifies the campaign’s slogan, “Giving is Growing!”: three generations of one family working out, volunteering and giving back to the YMCA. “I am a volunteer fitness class instructor. I have been coming to the YMCA for 27 years. My two daughters have been members for 25 years and now it’s time for my three grandchildren to join. Why do I like it here? There’s always someone looking out for you,” said Lillian, age 72, fitness instructor, volunteer and donor.
