Y-pod: After School Program

Y-pod: After School Program

Part of the Diversion program, Y-Pod makes it easier for elementary school children to transition into high school. The program helps kids aged 10 to 12 prepare for high school and develop their social skills.

From October to February and from March to June, kids meet two hours each week to:

  • attend an educational workshop on a variety of subjects, including bullying, peer pressure, drugs, conflict resolution and team spirit, and other tools that can help them succeed in high school;
  • participate a recreational activity (sports, breakdancing, boxing or games) after the workshop.

These meetings are a great way for young people to make friends, learn about different issues and have fun. The Y-Pod program also provides participants with the knowledge and tools they need for the start of school.

This program is offered at the West-Island YMCA.
